You walk around town happy with your new clothes. Someone tells you they dislike your outfit - you regret wearing it. You laugh at a joke. Someone remarks that your laugh is weird - from here on your mouth stays shut. You ask someone out and they decline harshly - you decide to stay single forever.
Every step taken is accompanied by comments, every word spoken will have someone disagreeing, every thought you have will have someone thinking the opposite.
It’s a given. Welcome to life. And unless you are an utter obnoxious, selfish individual with unmatched ignorance, you should not be listening all too much to all that noise surrounding you.
Who cares that you shirt doesn’t appeal to that random person? So what that one extra dislikes your voice? Gossip and talking down doesn’t come from people content with their own life.
Others’ insecurities projected onto you shouldn’t lead to you absorbing their doubt. It’s useless energy that should not be reciprocated.
Are you being rude, thoughtless, hurting others or egotistical causing damage? Yes? Fuck you, get some manners. No? Fuck them, live a little.
Sing your favourite song, cut your hair the way you like it, show your crooked smile, and express your love to those you cherish.
It’s a short life, one that’s solely owned by the person greeting you in the mirror every day. So brush your teeth, lift the corners of your lips, go out, be kind and be unafraid.
Don’t be anyone but yourself. There’s already a multitude of them, those and they.
