Sat in your room you might be feeling the worst. A room you wish would be filled with friends, a room you wish you would be enjoying with a lover, a room you wish would be colourful, instead of a meeting point for your dark thoughts, grey at best.
Yet in unwanted company you sit, alone you lay, or in silence you eat. A television to watch the seasons go by, speakers to drown out the internal noises and voices, and a phone to distract you from a wake-up call.
Saturday night, no life. The opposite of all you enjoy on the screens. Acting extra excited upon seeing the main character in a fictive world. Meanwhile, auditioning for the role of antagonist in your own play.
There’s a high probability that you’re not thoroughly enjoying this, and you shouldn’t be enjoying this. At least give natural selection some resistance.
Well, how about taking the hours that you spend disliking life and use those to work towards a life that actually appeals to you? Despising doesn’t resolve, playing dead doesn’t reincarnate you.
Get the necessities. Polish the shield, knit the cape. Be your own knight in shining armour, be your own super(wo)man. Walk, crawl and roll towards your goals. The sky is the limit, Neil Armstrong in a wheelchair.
Yesterday is burning in the background, tomorrow may never come. Giftwrap now, treat yourself to the present.
